Desert Rose Haven

In the past 9 years the Howard family has turned the sparseness of the gibber plain into an oasis of natives and fruit trees.

  • The 4.5 acres of Desert Rose Haven is home to an amazing variety of plants including the famed desert rose pictured above and many varieties of fruit trees
  • ponds of fish and yabbies

The house nestling in this oasis is of architectural significance being one of the few VJ buildings made of hoop pine and hardwood left in Queensland.
Constructed in 1920-30 it was once the maternity wing of the hospital.

Inside you will find memorabilia of all sorts. There is something to suit all interests - model planes, antique radios, historical bottles, photographs and much, much more.

Have a cuppa and take in a few yarns - you'll spend longer than you realise at the Desert Rose Haven
